The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSSC) conducts recruitment for Home Guard positions in Bihar state. Home Guards are voluntary force members who assist police in maintaining law and order during emergencies, festivals, and public events. Educational Qualification

• Candidates must have passed ITI (Industrial Training Institute) in any trade from a recognized institution
• Must possess valid ITI certificate issued by NCVT/SCVT
• Certificate must be from an institution recognized by Government of India or State Government
• Equivalent qualification from recognized board will also be accepted

4. Fill in basic details like name, father's name, date of birth, mobile number, and email ID
5. Note down the Registration Number and Password generated after successful registration
6. Login using Registration Number and Password
7. Fill the complete application form with personal, educational, and other required details
8. Upload scanned copies of recent photograph (50 KB), signature (20 KB), and relevant certificates
9. Select examination centre preference from available options
10. Proceed to payment section and pay application fee through online mode (Debit Card/Credit Card/Net Banking/UPI)
11. After successful payment, submit the application form
12. Take a printout of the submitted application form for future reference

1. Written Examination (Objective Type): Computer-based objective type written test covering General Knowledge, General Science, Mathematics, Mental Ability and Reasoning with questions related to Bihar state and national affairs. Qualifying candidates proceed to next stage.

1. Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Candidates who qualify written exam will undergo physical efficiency test including running, long jump, high jump and other physical measurements as per prescribed standards for Home Guard recruitment.

1. Physical Measurement Test (PMT): Height and chest measurement verification for male candidates and height measurement for female candidates as per Bihar Home Guard norms with relaxation for reserved categories.

1. Document Verification: Qualified candidates in PET/PMT must appear for document verification with all original certificates including educational qualification, caste certificate, domicile certificate, ITI marksheets, and identity proof.

1. Medical Examination: Shortlisted candidates undergo medical examination by authorized medical board to check physical and mental fitness for Home Guard duties including vision, hearing and general health parameters.

1. Final Merit List: Final selection based on combined performance in written exam and PET with weightage given to written examination marks and subject to document verification and medical fitness.

Bihar Home Guard personnel have opportunities for internal promotions based on service record and departmental examinations. After 5-7 years of service, Home Guards can be promoted to Platoon Commander, followed by Company Commander positions. Outstanding performers may get opportunities for direct recruitment in Bihar Police constable cadre through departmental quota, and can also apply for promotion to supervisory roles in Home Guards organization with increased pay scale and responsibilities.

BPSSC will release admit cards for written examination approximately 15-20 days before the exam date on the official website www.bpssc.bih.nic.in. Candidates must login using their registration number and password/date of birth to download the admit card. The admit card contains candidate's name, roll number, exam centre address, reporting time, and important instructions. Candidates must carry the admit card along with original photo ID proof (Aadhar Card/Voter ID/Driving License) to the examination centre.

BPSSC declares written examination results within 30-45 days of exam completion on the official website. Results are published as PDF containing roll numbers of qualified candidates along with category-wise cut-off marks. Candidates can check their result and scorecard by logging into the candidate portal. Physical Efficiency Test schedule and venue details are announced along with written exam results. Final merit list is prepared after completion of all selection stages including PET, document verification and medical examination.
