Educational Qualification

Branch-wise qualifications:

• Executive Branch: Bachelor's degree in any discipline with minimum 60% marks
• Technical Branch (Engineering): BE/B.Tech in relevant disciplines (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science, etc.) with minimum 60% marks
• Technical Branch (Naval Architecture): B.Tech/BE in Naval Architecture with minimum 60% marks

1. Shortlisting Based on Application: Candidates meeting eligibility criteria are shortlisted based on academic performance, age, and branch preferences. Merit list prepared according to percentage of marks in qualifying degree.

1. Intelligence and Personality Test (Stage I): Two-day screening at SSB centers consisting of Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) tests, Picture Perception & Description Test (PP&DT), and group discussions. Only those clearing Stage I proceed to Stage II.

Stage II Testing (3-4 days): Includes Psychological Tests (Thematic Apperception Test, Word Association Test, Situation Reaction Test, Self Description), Group Testing Officer tasks (group discussions, group planning exercises, progressive group tasks, lecturettes), and Individual obstacles/Command tasks.

1. Personal Interview: Detailed interview by experienced officers assessing personality, general awareness, academic knowledge, motivation, and suitability for naval service. Duration typically 30-45 minutes.

1. Conference: Final assessment by all board members reviewing overall performance across all tests. Candidates are informed of selection/rejection on the same day.

1. Medical Examination: Comprehensive medical examination conducted for candidates recommended by SSB, assessing physical and mental fitness as per Indian Navy standards including vision, hearing, dental, cardiovascular, and psychiatric parameters.

1. Merit List & Final Selection: Final merit list prepared based on SSB scores. Selected candidates called for joining Indian Naval Academy based on merit and vacancy availability.
