NTPC (National Thermal Power Corporation) Limited has released the official notification for Assistant Chemist Trainee Recruitment 2026 inviting applications for 40 posts across various NTPC power stations and projects throughout India. NTPC is India's largest power generating company under the Ministry of Power, Government of India. Educational Qualification

• Essential: Full-time Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry / Chemical Engineering / Chemical Technology / Industrial Chemistry / Applied Chemistry from a recognized University/Institute with minimum 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates)

Selection Process

The selection process consists of the following stages:

1. Computer Based Test (CBT): Candidates will be shortlisted based on performance in online CBT covering technical knowledge of Chemistry, General Aptitude, and Reasoning. The test will be objective type (multiple choice questions).

1. Document Verification: Candidates shortlisted after CBT will be called for document verification. Original certificates of educational qualification, date of birth, category, experience, and other relevant documents must be produced.

1. Pre-Employment Medical Examination: Candidates who successfully complete document verification will undergo comprehensive medical examination as per NTPC medical standards. Fitness certificate from NTPC approved medical board is mandatory.

1. Final Merit List: Final selection will be based on marks obtained in CBT subject to qualifying in document verification and medical examination. Merit list will be prepared category-wise.

1. Training: Selected candidates will undergo comprehensive induction training and on-the-job training at NTPC training institutes and power stations before confirmation in service.

Candidates must login with their registration number and password/date of birth to download the admit card. No physical admit cards will be sent by post. Candidates must carry the admit card along with a valid original photo ID proof (Aadhaar Card/PAN Card/Driving License/Voter ID) to the examination center. Entry will not be permitted without admit card and valid ID proof.

CBT results will be declared on the NTPC Careers portal approximately 4-6 weeks after the examination. Candidates can check their results by logging in with registration credentials. The result will display scores obtained, category-wise cutoff marks, and qualification status. Shortlisted candidates for document verification will be intimated through email/SMS and the list will be published on the official website. Final selection results after document verification and medical examination will be published separately. NTPC does not send individual result letters by post; candidates must regularly check the official portal for updates.

Expected cutoff marks for NTPC Assistant Chemist Trainee vary based on exam difficulty level and number of applicants. Typically, UR category candidates need to score around 60-70% marks (90-105 out of 150) to qualify for document verification stage.
