Selection Process

The selection process consists of the following stages:

1. Computer Based Test (CBT): A single-stage online examination testing candidates on technical knowledge, general awareness, quantitative aptitude, and reasoning ability. Questions will be multiple-choice objective type. Duration: 2 hours.

1. Shortlisting: Candidates will be shortlisted based on CBT performance in the ratio of 1:3 against advertised vacancies, subject to qualifying marks, for document verification.

1. Document Verification (DV): Shortlisted candidates must appear for document verification with original certificates including educational qualifications, age proof, category certificate, and other relevant documents. Candidature may be cancelled if documents are not found genuine.

1. Medical Examination: After successful document verification, selected candidates will undergo pre-employment medical examination as per NTPC standards at designated hospitals/medical centres.

1. Final Merit List: Final selection will be based on CBT marks only (subject to qualifying document verification and medical fitness). Merit list will be prepared category-wise.

1. Training & Appointment: Selected candidates will be appointed as Assistant Chemist Trainee and will undergo mandatory training before confirmation in service.

The admit card contains important details including examination centre address, reporting time, candidate's photograph, and important instructions. Candidates must bring a printed copy of the admit card along with original valid photo ID proof (Aadhaar/PAN/Driving License/Passport/Voter ID) to the examination centre.

CBT results will be declared approximately 3-4 weeks after the examination on NTPC's careers website. Candidates can check their results by logging into the portal with their credentials. The result will display marks obtained, qualifying status, and shortlisting for document verification (if applicable). Score cards will be available for download from the candidate's login. Final selection list after document verification and medical examination will be published separately.
