NTPC (National Thermal Power Corporation) Limited is recruiting for Assistant Chemist Trainee positions through an All India online examination. NTPC is India's largest power generating company under the Ministry of Power, Government of India. Educational Qualification

• Essential: Full time Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry / Industrial Chemistry / Applied Chemistry / Analytical Chemistry from a recognized University/Institute with minimum 65% marks for UR/EWS/OBC candidates and 60% marks for SC/ST/PwBD candidates.
• The degree must be recognized by AICTE/UGC.
• Final year appearing candidates are NOT eligible to apply.
• Part-time/Distance education degrees are not accepted.

Selection Stages

1. Computer Based Test (CBT): Single stage online examination of 120 minutes duration covering technical and general subjects. Candidates scoring above minimum qualifying marks will be shortlisted based on merit.

1. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates will be called for certificate verification where all original documents including educational certificates, caste certificates, experience certificates, and identity proof will be verified.

1. Pre-Employment Medical Examination: Candidates who successfully complete document verification will undergo comprehensive medical examination at designated NTPC hospitals/empaneled hospitals to ensure fitness for the post.

1. Final Merit List: Final selection will be based on CBT marks (normalized if exam held in multiple shifts). Selected candidates will be offered appointment subject to medical fitness and background verification.

1. Training Period: Selected candidates will undergo structured training program for 1-2 years as Assistant Chemist Trainee before confirmation in regular service based on performance evaluation.

Admit cards for the Computer Based Test will be released approximately 10-15 days before the examination date on the NTPC Careers portal. Candidates must download their admit card by logging in with registration number and password. No physical admit card will be sent by post. The admit card contains candidate's name, photograph, exam center details, reporting time, and important instructions which must be followed on exam day.

CBT results will be declared approximately 4-6 weeks after the examination on the NTPC Careers website. Candidates can check their results by entering registration number and date of birth. Shortlisted candidates' roll numbers will be published, and detailed scorecards will be available for download. Selected candidates will be intimated via email/SMS about document verification schedule and further formalities.

Typical cutoff marks vary between 50-70% for UR category, 45-60% for OBC-NCL, and 40-50% for SC/ST categories depending on exam difficulty level and number of applicants. Technical section performance is crucial as it carries maximum weightage. Cutoff marks are determined separately for each category, and only candidates scoring above cutoff are called for document verification. Previous NTPC Assistant Chemist recruitments have seen competitive cutoffs with normalization applied in multi-shift exams.
