The MPPSC State Service Mains Examination 2025 is conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) to recruit candidates for various Group A and Group B posts in the Madhya Pradesh state administrative services. This examination is the second stage of the MPPSC State Service Combined Competitive Examination, following the Prelims. Successful candidates from Mains appear for a Personality Test (Interview) and are then appointed to prestigious positions including Deputy Collector, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Block Development Officer, Assistant Commissioner (Commercial Tax), and other state civil service posts. Selection Stages

1. Preliminary Examination (Qualifying): The Prelims is a screening test consisting of objective-type questions. Candidates securing minimum qualifying marks are shortlisted for Mains. Prelims marks are not counted in final merit.

1. Main Examination (Written Test): The Mains consists of 6 papers covering General Studies, Essay, General Hindi, and Optional Subject. Each paper is descriptive type. Marks obtained in Mains are counted for final merit list preparation.

1. Personality Test/Interview: Candidates shortlisted based on Mains performance are called for Interview conducted by the MPPSC Board. The interview assesses personality, general awareness, communication skills, and suitability for civil services.

1. Document Verification: After the Interview, candidates' original documents (educational certificates, category certificates, domicile, age proof) are verified for authenticity and eligibility compliance.

1. Medical Examination: Finally selected candidates undergo a medical fitness test as per government standards to ensure they are physically and mentally fit for administrative service duties.

1. Final Merit List: The final selection is based on combined marks of Mains Examination and Interview in the ratio decided by MPPSC (typically Mains: 875 marks, Interview: 175 marks).

MPPSC State Service offers excellent career progression with systematic promotions based on seniority-cum-merit. A Deputy Collector can be promoted to Additional Collector, then Joint Collector, District Collector, and potentially to Divisional Commissioner or Principal Secretary positions at the state level. Similarly, DSPs progress to Additional SP, SP, DIG, IG, and ADG ranks. Promotion timelines typically range from 4-8 years between levels, with significant salary hikes at each stage. Admit Cards for the MPPSC State Service Mains Examination will be released approximately 10-15 days before the exam date on the official MPPSC website. Candidates must download their admit cards by logging into their application portal using their registration credentials. The admit card contains essential details including exam date, time, venue, roll number, and instructions. No postal dispatch of admit cards is done. Candidates must carry the admit card along with a valid photo ID proof (Aadhaar/PAN/Driving License/Voter ID) to the examination centre.

The MPPSC Mains Examination result is declared approximately 2-3 months after the completion of all papers. Results are published on the official MPPSC website with roll numbers of qualified candidates who are eligible for the Personality Test/Interview. Candidates can check their results using their roll number or registration ID. After interviews are conducted, the final merit list is prepared based on combined marks of Mains and Interview. The final result with rank-wise allocation to various posts is published separately, typically 1-2 months after interviews conclude.

MPPSC State Service Mains cutoff marks vary annually based on difficulty level, number of vacancies, and candidate performance. Typically, General category candidates need to score around 50-55% marks (437-500 out of 875) to qualify for interviews, while OBC candidates require 45-50% (394-437 marks) and SC/ST candidates need 40-45% (350-394 marks).
