Educational Qualification

• Candidates must possess a Bachelor of Law (LLB) degree from a recognized University or Institution

Selection Stages

1. Preliminary Examination (Screening Test): An objective type screening examination covering general knowledge, general aptitude, legal aptitude, and reasoning. This is qualifying in nature and scores are not counted for final merit. Candidates qualifying prelims are called for mains examination.

Main Examination (Written Test): A descriptive/conventional type written examination testing in-depth knowledge of law subjects including Constitutional Law, Criminal Law (IPC, CrPC, Evidence Act), Civil Law, Legal Drafting, and Professional Ethics. Marks obtained in mains are counted for final merit ranking.

1. Personal Interview/Viva-Voce: Shortlisted candidates from mains examination are called for personality test conducted by a board. The interview assesses legal knowledge, communication skills, presence of mind, analytical ability, and suitability for the post. Interview marks are added to mains marks for final merit.

1. Document Verification: Candidates provisionally selected after interview must appear for document verification where original certificates (educational, caste, domicile, etc.) are checked for authenticity.

Assistant District Public Prosecution Officers have excellent career progression opportunities in the Chhattisgarh Prosecution Department. CGPSC declares results for Preliminary, Main, and Final selection in stages on its official website. Preliminary exam results are typically announced within 4-6 weeks of the exam, followed by shortlisting for mains. Main examination results are declared 2-3 months after the exam, along with the interview schedule. The final merit list, combining mains and interview marks, is published after completion of all interviews and document verification, usually 3-4 months after interviews conclude.

The cutoff marks for CGPSC ADPO vary each year based on vacancy, difficulty level, and number of candidates. Typically, for Preliminary examination, UR category cutoff ranges between 45-55% (58-72 marks out of 130), OBC around 40-50% (52-65 marks), and SC/ST around 35-45% (45-58 marks). For Main examination, UR cutoff is generally 50-60% (200-240 marks out of 400), with proportionate relaxation for reserved categories. Final selection cutoff including interview marks usually stands at 55-65% for general category candidates.
