The Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board (MPESB) conducts the Pre Agriculture Test (PAT) annually to facilitate admissions into various undergraduate agriculture and allied courses in colleges across Madhya Pradesh. Educational Qualification

• Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board
• Mandatory subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Agriculture/Mathematics
• Minimum aggregate marks: 50% for General/OBC candidates, 40% for SC/ST/PWD candidates
• Candidates appearing in final year 10+2 examination are also eligible to apply provisionally

There is no upper age limit for MPESB PAT examination as it is an entrance test for academic admission.

1. Written Examination: Candidates appear for a single-stage objective type entrance test covering subjects relevant to agriculture and sciences. The exam tests knowledge of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Agriculture, Mathematics, and General Knowledge. Scoring well in this test is essential for merit list preparation.

1. Merit List Preparation: Based on the marks obtained in the entrance exam, MPESB prepares a combined merit list as well as category-wise merit lists. Tie-breaking criteria include age, marks in individual subjects, and other prescribed parameters.

1. Counselling Registration: Qualified candidates register for online or offline counselling conducted by participating agricultural universities. During counselling, candidates fill choice of institutions and courses based on their preferences and merit rank.

1. Document Verification: At the time of counselling or admission, candidates must present original documents including mark sheets, caste certificate, domicile certificate, Aadhaar card, and other relevant certificates for verification.

1. Seat Allocation: Seats are allotted based on merit rank, category, preferences filled, and seat availability. Candidates accepting the allotted seat must pay admission fees and complete formalities within the stipulated time.

1. Admission Confirmation: After payment of fees and submission of required documents, final admission is granted by the respective institution. Candidates join their allotted college to commence the academic programme.

Government Agriculture Officer (Entry Level)

Agriculture graduates also have opportunities in research institutions (ICAR), agricultural banks, agribusiness companies, KVKs, and can pursue higher studies (M.Sc., Ph.D.) or competitive exams like IBPS-AFO, FCI, state agriculture services.

After completing B.Sc. Agriculture through MPESB PAT admission, graduates can join state agriculture departments as Agriculture Extension Officers, Agriculture Development Officers, or Assistant Agriculture Officers. With experience and departmental promotions, they can rise to positions like Deputy Director Agriculture, Joint Director, and eventually Director of Agriculture at state level. Many graduates also pursue M.Sc. Agriculture, Ph.D., and join research positions in ICAR institutes, agricultural universities as scientists and professors, or clear competitive exams for central services like Indian Forest Service (IFS) or banking sector agriculture specialist positions.

MPESB PAT 2026 admit cards are typically released 10-15 days before the examination date on the official website. Candidates must login to the MPESB portal using their application number and date of birth to download the admit card. The admit card contains important details including candidate's name, photograph, exam centre address, reporting time, and important instructions. Candidates must carry the printed admit card along with a valid photo ID proof (Aadhaar card, voter ID, driving license) to the examination centre. No candidate will be allowed to enter the exam hall without a valid admit card.

MPESB PAT 2026 result is expected to be declared approximately 3-4 weeks after the examination date. Candidates can check their results by visiting the official MPESB website and entering their roll number and date of birth. The result includes the candidate's score, overall rank, and category rank. Along with the result, MPESB also releases category-wise cutoff marks. Qualified candidates can download their scorecard/rank card from the website, which is required during the counselling process. The result remains available online for several months for candidates to access and download.

MPESB PAT cutoff marks vary each year depending on factors like number of applicants, difficulty level of exam, and seat availability. Typically, General category candidates need to score around 120-140 marks out of 200 (60-70%) to secure admission in good agricultural colleges. OBC candidates usually require 100-120 marks (50-60%), while SC/ST candidates may qualify with 70-90 marks (35-45%). Top-ranked government agricultural colleges have higher cutoffs (150+ for general category), while private colleges and less preferred institutions have relatively lower cutoffs. Domain-specific cutoffs are released separately for different courses like B.Sc. Agriculture, Horticulture, and Forestry.
