Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

• Candidates must have passed 10+2 examination or equivalent from a recognized Board/University
• Mandatory Subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM)
• Minimum aggregate marks: 70% in PCM subjects (65% for SC/ST candidates)
• Candidates appearing in 10+2 final examination can also apply (subject to meeting eligibility at document verification)
• The qualifying examination must be approved by the Central/State Government

Age Calculation: Age is calculated as on 01 January 2027 (date of course commencement)

Age Relaxation: Upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 3 years for OBC candidates as per Government of India directives.

1. Services Selection Board (SSB) Interview: Shortlisted candidates from written exam are called for 5-day SSB interview at Bangalore, Bhopal or Coimbatore. This includes Psychological Testing, Group Testing Officer Tasks, Interview, and Conference.

1. Medical Examination: Candidates recommended by SSB undergo comprehensive medical examination at designated Military Hospitals to assess physical and mental fitness as per Indian Navy standards.

1. Merit List Preparation: Final merit list is prepared based on combined performance in written exam and SSB interview marks, subject to medical fitness and document verification.

1. Document Verification: Original certificates are verified including educational qualifications, age proof, caste certificate, and character certificates before final selection.

1. Joining Indian Naval Academy: Selected candidates join the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala for the four-year B.Tech course commencing in January 2027.

Officers commissioned through 10+2 B.Tech Entry follow a structured promotion path in the Indian Navy. After commissioning as Lieutenant, officers are promoted to Lieutenant Commander (6-8 years), Commander (13-14 years), Captain (20-22 years), and potentially to Flag rank (Commodore, Rear Admiral, Vice Admiral, Admiral) based on merit, performance, and selection boards. Admit cards for the written examination will be released approximately 15-20 days before the exam date on the official Indian Navy website joinindiannavy.gov.in. Candidates must login using their registration number and password to download the admit card. The admit card contains important details including exam date, time, venue, reporting time, and examination instructions. Candidates must carry the admit card along with a valid original photo ID proof (Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Driving License, or Passport) to the examination center. No candidate will be allowed to enter the examination hall without a valid admit card.

The written examination result will be declared approximately 6-8 weeks after the exam on the official Indian Navy website. Candidates can check their results by entering their registration number and date of birth. Shortlisted candidates for SSB interview will be intimated through registered email and SMS. The final result after SSB and medical examination will be published on the website, and selected candidates will receive joining instructions through email and registered post.
