Educational Qualification

Selection Stages

1. Written Examination (Screening Test): A computer-based or offline written test covering subject knowledge, teaching aptitude, research methodology, and general awareness. This is a qualifying examination to shortlist candidates for interview.

1. Interview/Viva Voce: Shortlisted candidates based on written exam performance will be called for personal interview before a selection committee. The interview assesses subject knowledge, teaching ability, research potential, communication skills, and overall personality.

1. Document Verification: Candidates provisionally selected after interview must present original documents for verification including educational certificates, NET/SET certificate, category certificates, domicile certificate, and experience certificates.

Salary Structure (Typical / Indicative)

Assistant Professors in Himachal Pradesh government colleges have a well-defined career progression path. After 4-5 years of service and fulfilling Academic Performance Indicators (API) requirements, they can be promoted to Associate Professor with pay scale of ₹1,31,400-2,17,100 (Level 12). Subsequently, with continued research output, publications, and administrative contributions, promotion to Professor is possible with pay scale of ₹1,44,200-2,18,200 (Level 13). Senior professors may also take up administrative positions like Principal, Dean, or Vice-Chancellor.

Admit cards for the Assistant Professor examination will be released approximately 2-3 weeks before the scheduled exam date on the official HPPSC website. Candidates must login to their application account using registration number and password to download the admit card. The admit card contains important details including examination centre, reporting time, and instructions. No physical admit card will be sent by post.
