The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) Undergraduate Level recruitment 2026 is conducted for filling various clerical, accounts and station master positions across Indian Railways. RRB NTPC is one of the largest railway recruitment drives, offering positions in different zones of Indian Railways including Northern, Southern, Eastern, Western, and other railway zones. This exam selects candidates for Group 'C' posts requiring a Graduate degree qualification. The positions include Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Junior Clerk cum Typist, Train Clerk, and Commercial Apprentice among others. Educational Qualification

For Graduate Level Posts:

• Minimum Qualification: Bachelor's Degree in any discipline from a recognized University or equivalent
• Candidates appearing in final year/semester of graduation can also apply provisionally
• Degree certificate must be produced during document verification
• For specific posts like Accounts Clerk, Commerce graduates may be preferred

How to Apply Online

1. Registration: Click on 'New Registration' and fill basic details including name, date of birth, mobile number and email ID. A unique registration number will be generated

1. Login with Credentials: Use registration number and password to login to the application portal

1. Fill Application Form: Complete all sections including personal details, educational qualifications, category information, preference of posts and RRB zones

1. Upload Documents: Upload scanned copies of recent photograph (3.5 cm × 3.5 cm, 50-100 KB, JPG format) and signature (3 cm × 1.5 cm, 20-50 KB, JPG format)

Selection Stages

1. Computer Based Test (CBT) Stage 1: This is a screening test conducted online across multiple exam centres. It tests General Awareness, Mathematics and General Intelligence & Reasoning. Candidates are shortlisted for CBT 2 based on normalized marks (15-20 times the vacancies).

1. Computer Based Test (CBT) Stage 2: This is the main examination for shortlisted candidates from CBT 1. It includes questions on General Awareness, Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning and relevant subject knowledge for the post applied. Marks of CBT 2 are used for final merit list preparation.

1. Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT): Applicable only for specific posts like Station Master, Traffic Assistant and Goods Guard. Tests aptitude for safety-related operations including concentration, reaction time and vigilance.

1. Typing Skill Test (TST): For posts requiring typing skills like Junior Clerk cum Typist and Senior Clerk cum Typist. Candidates must achieve minimum typing speed in English (30 wpm) or Hindi (25 wpm).

1. Document Verification (DV): Shortlisted candidates are called for verification of original documents including educational certificates, caste certificate, PwBD certificate, date of birth proof and identity proof. Non-production of documents leads to disqualification.

1. Medical Examination: Final selected candidates undergo comprehensive medical examination by Railway Medical Board to ensure fitness for railway duties as per Railway Medical Standards.

1. Final Merit List: Based on CBT 2 scores (70% weightage) and medical fitness. Successful candidates are issued appointment letters for joining respective railway zones.

Negative Marking:

Both CBT 1 and CBT 2 have negative marking. For each wrong answer, one-third (0.33) of the marks allotted to that question will be deducted. Unattempted questions receive no marks and no penalty.

RRB NTPC Graduate Level employees have excellent career progression opportunities within Indian Railways. Starting at Pay Level 5, employees can get promoted to Senior Clerk (Pay Level 6), then to Chief Clerk/Head Clerk positions (Pay Level 7) through Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) based on seniority and performance. Further promotions to supervisory roles like Station Superintendent, Commercial Supervisor, and Accounts Supervisor (Pay Level 8) are available through internal examinations and assessments. RRB NTPC admit cards are released approximately 10-15 days before the scheduled examination date on the official RRB website of the zone where the candidate has applied. Candidates must login with their registration number and date of birth to download the e-admit card. The admit card contains important details including candidate's name, photograph, exam centre address, reporting time, exam date and important instructions. No physical admit cards are sent by post; candidates must carry a printed copy along with valid original photo ID proof (Aadhaar, Voter ID, Passport, Driving License or PAN card) to the examination centre for verification.

RRB NTPC results are declared in multiple stages on the official RRB websites and on the centralized RRB portal. CBT 1 results are typically announced 30-45 days after the exam completion, displaying candidate's registration number, marks obtained, normalized score and qualification status. CBT 2 results are declared 45-60 days after that exam, including scorecard and merit list. Final results after document verification and medical examination list selected candidates for appointment. Candidates can check results by logging in with registration number and date of birth. Score cards showing section-wise marks and overall percentile are made available for download after result declaration.

RRB NTPC cutoff marks vary significantly across categories, posts and RRB zones based on factors like vacancy count, number of candidates and exam difficulty. For CBT 1 (qualifying stage), typical cutoffs range from 40-50 marks for UR category, 35-45 for OBC, 30-40 for SC, and 25-35 for ST categories out of 100 marks. CBT 2 cutoffs are higher as they determine final selection: UR category typically requires 60-75 marks, OBC 55-68, SC 50-60, and ST 45-55 out of 120 marks. These are indicative ranges and actual cutoffs depend on normalisation factors and zone-specific competition levels.
