The North Central Railway (NCR) RRC Prayagraj invites applications for Apprentice positions under the Apprentices Act, 1961. This recruitment is conducted by the Railway Recruitment Cell, Prayagraj, one of the major railway zones in India. Apprentices will undergo practical training in various technical and non-technical trades across NCR Railway workshops, maintenance facilities, and production units. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship period, candidates gain valuable industrial experience and preference in future railway recruitments. The training period typically ranges from 1 to 3 years depending on the trade. This recruitment provides an excellent opportunity for youth to develop technical skills while earning a stipend. 1. Merit List Preparation: Candidates will be shortlisted based on merit calculated from 10th standard marks (aggregate percentage) or ITI marks in relevant trade, whichever is higher. Trade-wise and category-wise merit lists will be prepared.

1. Written Test / Aptitude Test (if conducted): In some cases, Railway may conduct a basic aptitude test covering General Intelligence, Numerical Ability, and General Awareness based on 10th standard syllabus. This is typically objective type with 1 hour duration.

1. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates based on merit/test will be called for document verification. Candidates must bring all original certificates including Educational Qualification, Date of Birth proof, Caste Certificate, EWS Certificate, PwBD Certificate, Aadhaar Card, and recent passport photographs.

1. Medical Examination: Selected candidates must undergo medical examination as per Railway standards. Candidates must be medically fit for the applied trade with required physical standards (vision, hearing, etc.).

1. Final Selection: Based on merit list, document verification, and medical fitness, final selection list will be published. Selected candidates will be issued engagement orders for apprenticeship training.

1. Training Engagement: Selected candidates will sign apprenticeship contract and commence training at designated Railway workshops/units across NCR zone.

Post-Training Employment:

Stipend is paid as per Ministry of Railways norms and Apprentices Act regulations. Ex-apprentices get preference in direct recruitment for Group C posts.

Apprentices who successfully complete their training receive National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) recognized across industries. Ex-apprentices of Railways get preference and relaxation in age limit when applying for direct recruitment to Group C (erstwhile Group D) posts in Indian Railways. After absorption, career progression follows standard Railway hierarchy from Level 1 to higher technical grades including Technician Grade-I, Grade-II, Senior Technician, and technical supervisory positions with opportunities to reach Level 6 and above through departmental exams and promotions.

Admit cards for the aptitude test (if conducted) will be released approximately 10-15 days before the examination date on the official RRC NCR Prayagraj website. Candidates must login using their registration number and password/date of birth to download the admit card. The admit card contains candidate details, examination centre address, reporting time, and important instructions. No physical admit cards will be sent by post; candidates must carry a printout of the e-admit card along with valid photo ID proof to the examination centre.

Results will be declared in multiple stages: initial merit list based on 10th/ITI marks, aptitude test results (if conducted), and final selection list after document verification and medical examination. All results will be published on the official RRC NCR Prayagraj website with candidates able to check status using registration number. The final selection list will specify training allocation across various NCR Railway workshops and divisions. Selected candidates will receive engagement orders through registered email and SMS, with instructions to report for apprenticeship commencement.

Merit cutoff is primarily determined by 10th standard or ITI marks percentage and varies by trade and category. Typically, General category candidates require 65-75% marks in 10th for popular technical trades, while OBC cutoff ranges from 55-65% and SC/ST from 45-55%. Trade apprentices in specialized fields like Fitter, Electrician, and Welder have higher cutoffs compared to semi-skilled trades. Cutoffs fluctuate based on number of applicants, vacancy distribution, and category-wise reservation.
