Educational Qualification

For Science Subjects Group:

• Passed Intermediate/10+2/equivalent examination with Mathematics, Physics and English with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English
• OR Three years Diploma Course in Engineering in any stream with 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English in Diploma or in Intermediate/Matriculation

For Other Than Science Subjects Group:

• Passed Intermediate/10+2/equivalent in any stream/subjects approved by Central/State Education Boards with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English
• OR Two years Vocational Course approved with minimum 50% aggregate marks and 50% in English

Selection Stages

1. Online Examination (Phase 1): Computer-based objective type test covering English, Physics, Mathematics (for Science stream) or Reasoning & General Awareness (for Other than Science). Duration of 60 minutes with 50-70 questions.

1. Physical Fitness Test (PFT): Shortlisted candidates undergo 1.6 km run (to be completed within 6.5 minutes), comprising adaptability tests including beam balance, push-ups, sit-ups to assess physical endurance and stamina.

1. Medical Examination: Comprehensive medical examination by Air Force Medical Officers assessing vision standards (6/6 vision), hearing capability, cardiovascular fitness, and overall physical and mental health parameters as per IAF medical standards.

1. Document Verification: Original certificates verification including educational qualifications, date of birth proof, caste certificate (if applicable), domicile certificate, and other supporting documents.

1. Merit List Preparation: Final merit list prepared based on performance in online exam, physical fitness test, and medical fitness. Selected candidates called for enrollment and training at Air Force stations.

Agniveers serve for a fixed tenure of four years without pension benefits. However, approximately 25% of each Agniveervayu batch will be offered enrolment into the regular cadre of the Indian Air Force based on merit, performance during service, and organisational requirements. Those enrolled in regular service will follow the standard IAF promotion hierarchy from Leading Aircraftman to Warrant Officer ranks with opportunities for commission into officer ranks through dedicated schemes.

Admit cards for the online examination will be released approximately 10-15 days before the scheduled exam date on the official Agniveervayu recruitment portal. Candidates must download the admit card by logging in with their registration credentials. The admit card contains important details including exam date, time, venue, reporting time, and candidate's photograph. No physical admit card will be sent by post; candidates must carry a printout along with valid photo ID proof to the examination center.

Results for the online examination are typically declared within 3-4 weeks of the exam date on the official website. Candidates can check their results by entering their registration number and date of birth. Shortlisted candidates for Physical Fitness Test and Medical Examination will receive notifications through registered email and SMS. The final merit list after all selection stages is published on the website with roll numbers of selected candidates. No individual result intimation is sent by post.

Cutoff marks vary by intake based on difficulty level, number of applicants, and vacancies. Typically, candidates scoring 35-40 marks out of 70 (for Science stream) or 25-30 marks out of 50 (for Other than Science) in the online exam are shortlisted for further stages. Category-wise cutoffs generally show a variation of 3-5 marks, with UR category having the highest cutoff. Final selection depends on overall performance across all stages including PFT and medical fitness, not just written exam scores.
