Selection Stages

1. Screening of Applications: All received applications will be screened based on eligibility criteria. Only eligible candidates will be shortlisted for further stages.

1. Written Examination: Shortlisted candidates will appear for a written test covering accounting principles, financial management, general awareness, quantitative aptitude, and computer knowledge. Duration typically 2 hours with objective-type questions.

1. Skill Test: Qualified candidates from written exam will undergo a practical skill test on accounting software (Tally ERP/SAP), MS Excel, and basic computer operations. This tests hands-on accounting capabilities.

1. Personal Interview: Final shortlisted candidates will face an interview panel comprising IIM Guwahati officials. The interview assesses technical knowledge, communication skills, problem-solving ability, and suitability for the role.

1. Document Verification: Candidates provisionally selected after interview must produce original certificates for verification including educational qualifications, caste certificate, age proof, experience certificates, and identity proof.

Accountants at IIM Guwahati have structured career progression opportunities. After 3-5 years of experience, they can be promoted to Senior Accountant positions with enhanced responsibilities in financial planning and audit. With further experience and good performance, progression to Assistant Manager (Finance), Manager (Finance & Accounts), and eventually to Deputy Chief Financial Officer positions is possible.
