Selection Stages

1. Preliminary Examination: An objective-type screening test covering general knowledge, teaching aptitude, subject-specific questions and reasoning. Candidates scoring minimum qualifying marks are shortlisted for mains examination based on merit.

1. Main Written Examination: A descriptive examination consisting of subject-specific papers testing in-depth knowledge, research methodology, teaching pedagogy and analytical abilities. Minimum qualifying marks are required to be eligible for interview.

1. Interview/Viva-Voce: Personality assessment and subject knowledge evaluation by expert panel. Candidates are assessed on teaching skills, communication, subject expertise, research orientation and overall suitability. Interview carries specific weightage in final merit.

1. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must produce original documents including educational certificates, NET/SLET, category certificates, domicile proof, age proof and experience certificates for verification by the commission.

1. Medical Examination: Selected candidates undergo medical fitness test as per government standards. Medical fitness certificate from authorized medical board is mandatory before final appointment.

1. Final Merit List: Merit list is prepared based on combined marks of written examination and interview, subject to document verification and medical fitness. Appointment offers are issued as per availability of vacancies and reservation policy.

Assistant Professors can progress to Associate Professor (AGP 8) after completing minimum eligibility period and fulfilling academic performance criteria through Career Advancement Scheme (CAS). Final merit list is published after completion of all selection stages with category-wise cutoff marks. Candidates can check results using registration number or roll number. Selected candidates receive appointment letters through registered post and email with joining instructions and document requirements.

Cutoff marks vary based on exam difficulty, number of applicants and vacancy availability. Typically for preliminary examination, General category candidates need 45-50% marks, OBC candidates need 42-47%, and SC/ST candidates need 38-42% to qualify. For final selection in main examination and interview combined, General category cutoff ranges from 55-62%, OBC from 52-58%, and SC/ST from 48-54%. Actual cutoffs are declared with results and may vary subject-wise.
