Eastern Railway has released the Provisional Panel for Apprentice recruitment 2025-26. This recruitment is conducted under the Apprentices Act, 1961 for engaging apprentices in various technical and non-technical trades across Eastern Railway zones. Selected candidates will undergo practical training in railway workshops, depots, and divisions for a period of one to three years depending on the trade. Upon successful completion of apprenticeship training, candidates receive a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) recognized across India. This apprenticeship provides valuable hands-on experience in railway operations and often serves as a pathway to permanent railway employment. Merit List Preparation: Candidates are shortlisted based on merit calculated from percentage of marks obtained in matriculation (10th) plus ITI marks for technical trades, or Class 10th/12th marks for non-technical trades. Weightage is typically 50% for matriculation and 50% for ITI/higher qualification.

1. Provisional Panel Declaration: Eastern Railway publishes zone-wise and trade-wise provisional merit lists on the official website. Candidates can check their selection status using registration number or application number.

1. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates are called for document verification at designated Eastern Railway offices. Original certificates of educational qualification, date of birth, caste certificate, domicile certificate, and other relevant documents must be produced.

Apprentice Stipend Structure (Typical / Indicative)

Stipend Details

• Gross monthly salary: ₹30,000 - ₹40,000 approximately

Upon successful completion of apprenticeship training and receiving the National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC), candidates have strong prospects for absorption in regular railway positions through departmental selection processes. Many apprentices are eventually appointed as Trackman, Helper, Technician, or other Group D/C posts based on vacancies and performance. Regular railway employees can then progress through promotional hierarchy reaching positions of Senior Technician, Junior Engineer, and higher technical/supervisory roles over 15-25 years of service.
