Central Bank of India (CBI) invites applications from eligible Indian citizens for recruitment to 4500 Apprentice positions across India for 2026. This recruitment is conducted under the Apprentices Act, 1961, offering graduates an opportunity to gain practical banking experience for one year. Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend and undergo on-the-job training in various banking operations including customer service, account opening, loan processing, and digital banking services. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship period, candidates may have opportunities for regular employment through subsequent recruitment processes. Selection Process

1. Online Written Test: Computer-based objective type test consisting of questions on Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, English Language, General Awareness, and Computer Knowledge. Duration: 60-90 minutes with 100 questions. This is the primary screening stage.

1. Merit List Preparation: Based on marks obtained in the online test, a merit list will be prepared category-wise and state-wise. Candidates will be shortlisted based on their rank and preference of location.

1. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification at designated centres. Original documents including educational certificates, category certificate, identity proof, and photographs must be produced.

1. Medical Fitness: Selected candidates must undergo medical examination to ensure fitness for the apprenticeship role. Medical fitness certificate from authorized medical practitioner/hospital will be required.

1. Final Selection: Final selection will be based on merit in written test, successful document verification, and medical fitness. Selected candidates will be issued appointment letters specifying branch location and joining date.

Upon successful completion of the one-year apprenticeship, candidates gain valuable practical banking experience that enhances their eligibility for regular banking positions in Central Bank of India or other public/private sector banks. While apprenticeship does not guarantee automatic absorption, the bank often conducts direct recruitment drives where ex-apprentices receive preference. Former apprentices have better chances in subsequent Clerk, Specialist Officer, or Probationary Officer recruitment processes due to their hands-on experience in banking operations.

Admit cards for the online written test will be released approximately 10-15 days before the examination date on the official website www.centralbankofindia.co.in. Candidates must login using their registration number and password/date of birth to download their admit card. No physical admit card will be sent by post. The admit card contains important details including exam date, time, venue address, reporting time, and instructions. Candidates must bring a printed copy of the admit card along with original photo ID proof to the examination centre.

The result of the online written test will be declared on the official website within 3-4 weeks after the examination. Candidates can check their result by entering registration number and password on the result portal. The result will display scores obtained, qualifying status, and merit list rank. Shortlisted candidates for document verification will be intimated through registered email and SMS. Final selection list will be published after completion of document verification and medical examination, typically 6-8 weeks after the written test.

Cutoff marks vary based on category, state/zone preference, and number of applicants. Typical expected cutoffs (out of 100): General/EWS - 50-60 marks, OBC - 45-55 marks, SC - 40-48 marks, ST - 35-43 marks. State-wise cutoffs also differ significantly, with metropolitan zones having higher cutoffs (55-65 for General) compared to rural zones (45-55 for General). Cutoffs depend on exam difficulty level, number of vacancies, and performance of candidates in that particular session.
