BSNL Junior Telecom Officer (JTO) recruitment is conducted by Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, India's state-owned telecommunications company under the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications. This All India recruitment selects engineering graduates for the JTO position, which is a Group-B gazetted post in BSNL. Selection Stages

1. Online Written Examination: Computer-based test of 200 marks covering engineering subjects, general ability, and aptitude. Duration of 3 hours. This is the primary selection stage.

1. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates based on written exam merit are called for document verification. Original certificates of educational qualification, date of birth, category, experience (if any) are verified.

1. Medical Examination: Candidates who successfully complete document verification undergo medical fitness examination as per BSNL medical standards. Fitness certificate from authorized medical board is mandatory.

1. Final Merit List: Final selection is purely based on marks obtained in online written examination subject to qualifying document verification and medical fitness. No interview is conducted.

1. Appointment Order: Selected candidates receive appointment letters and are posted across BSNL circles based on merit rank, preferences, and organizational requirements.

The promotion hierarchy is: JTO (E1) → SDE (E2 - Senior Divisional Engineer) after 4-5 years → DGM (E3 - Deputy General Manager) after 8-10 years → GM (E4 - General Manager) after 15-18 years → CGM (E5 - Chief General Manager) and higher. Promotions are based on time-bound assessments, departmental examination performance, ACRs, and seniority-cum-merit basis, with officers potentially reaching CMD level in distinguished careers.
