The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) conducts the Pharmacist recruitment examination to select qualified candidates for the post of Pharmacist in various government hospitals, health centres, and medical institutions across Uttar Pradesh. This is a state-level examination under the Health & Family Welfare Department. Successful candidates will be appointed as Pharmacist (Allopathic) in Grade-2 positions across district hospitals, community health centres, and primary health centres in UP. The examination is conducted in both online and offline modes depending on the recruitment cycle. Application Process

4. Verify your registration through OTP sent to mobile/email

Selection Process

1. Written Examination: A single-stage written examination (objective type) covering subjects related to Pharmacy, General Knowledge, Hindi, and General Intelligence. The exam tests pharmaceutical knowledge, drug nomenclature, pharmacology, pharmaceutical chemistry, and hospital pharmacy management. Candidates must score minimum qualifying marks as per their category.

1. Document Verification: Candidates who qualify the written examination are called for document verification in order of merit. Candidates must produce original documents including educational certificates, Pharmacy Council registration, caste certificate (if applicable), domicile certificate, age proof, and recent photographs. Provisional selection is subject to successful verification.

1. Medical Examination: Finally selected candidates must undergo a medical fitness examination conducted by authorized medical boards. Candidates must be medically fit as per government norms to be appointed as Pharmacist.

1. Final Merit List: The final merit list is prepared based on marks obtained in the written examination. Candidates are allocated to various districts and institutions based on their rank and preference. Appointment letters are issued to successful candidates by the appointing authorities.

Written Examination (Single Paper)

Negative Marking: There is negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. For every incorrect response, one-fourth (1/4) of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted.

Career Progression

UPSSSC Pharmacists have excellent career growth opportunities within the UP Health Department. After completing minimum service periods and departmental examinations, Pharmacists can be promoted to Senior Pharmacist (Pay Level-7), then to Chief Pharmacist (Pay Level-8), and eventually to Superintendent Pharmacist positions in district hospitals or medical colleges. Promotions are based on seniority-cum-merit, annual performance appraisals, and availability of vacancies. Officers can also apply for deputation to central government health institutions or pharmaceutical regulatory bodies. With additional qualifications like M.Pharma, lateral movement to teaching positions in government pharmacy colleges is also possible.

Admit Card Information

The UPSSSC releases admit cards approximately 7-10 days before the scheduled examination date on the official website upsssc.gov.in. Candidates must login using their Registration Number and Date of Birth to download the admit card. No physical admit cards are sent by post. The admit card contains essential details including candidate's name, photograph, exam centre address, reporting time, exam date and shift, important instructions, and COVID-19 guidelines if applicable. Candidates must carry a printed copy of the admit card along with a valid photo ID proof (Aadhaar Card/Voter ID/Driving License/Passport) to the examination centre for entry verification.

Result Declaration

UPSSSSC declares the Pharmacist examination result within 30-45 days of the examination date. The result is published on the official website in PDF format containing roll numbers of qualified candidates arranged category-wise. Candidates can check their result and download their scorecard from the candidate login portal using registration credentials. The scorecard displays subject-wise marks, total marks obtained, qualifying status, and overall rank/category rank. A separate merit list is prepared for each reserved category. Candidates who qualify are called for document verification as per the notified schedule. Final selection list is published after successful document verification and medical examination.

Expected Cutoff Marks (Typical / Indicative)

The cutoff marks for UPSSSC Pharmacist examination vary each year based on difficulty level, number of vacancies, and candidates appearing. Based on previous recruitment trends, General category candidates typically need to score 120-140 marks out of 300 (40-47%), OBC candidates around 105-125 marks (35-42%), SC candidates 95-115 marks (32-38%), and ST candidates 90-110 marks (30-37%) to qualify. Cutoff marks are generally higher for female candidates in reserved quota compared to male candidates. District-wise cutoffs may also vary slightly during final allocation based on preference and vacancy availability. The official cutoff is declared along with the result announcement.
