Educational Qualification

• Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree from a recognized university or institution in any discipline.
• Candidates appearing in the final year of their bachelor's degree are also eligible to apply (subject to completion before the main examination).
• The degree must be recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) or equivalent statutory body.
• Professional degrees like MBBS, Engineering, CA, etc., are also acceptable.

How to Apply

3. For new users, complete the one-time registration by providing basic details (name, email, mobile number) and create login credentials.
4. Login using your registration number and password.
5. Fill in the application form carefully with personal details, educational qualifications, category, address, and upload required documents.
6. Upload scanned photograph (4.5 cm × 3.5 cm, JPG format, 10-40 KB) and signature (3 cm × 1.5 cm, JPG format, 5-15 KB).
7. Review all entered information thoroughly before proceeding to payment.
8. Pay the application fee through online mode (Net Banking, Credit/Debit Card, UPI) or offline mode (e-challan at designated banks).
9. After successful payment, submit the application form and download the confirmation page.

Selection Procedure

The UPPSC Combined State / Upper Subordinate Services Examination consists of three stages:

1. Preliminary Examination (Objective Type): A screening test consisting of two papers - General Studies Paper I (200 marks) and General Studies Paper II or CSAT (200 marks). Paper II is qualifying in nature with minimum 33% marks required. Only Paper I marks are counted for merit and shortlisting for mains.

1. Main Examination (Descriptive Type): Candidates who qualify the preliminary exam are called for mains, which consists of 8 papers including General Hindi, Essay, General Studies (4 papers), and 2 optional subject papers. Total marks for mains is 1500 marks (excluding qualifying papers). The exam tests in-depth knowledge and analytical writing skills.

1. Personality Test / Interview: Candidates qualifying the mains examination are called for a personality test / interview of 100 marks conducted by the UPPSC Board. The interview assesses the candidate's overall personality, communication skills, general awareness, and suitability for civil services.

1. Document Verification: After the interview, shortlisted candidates undergo document verification where all original certificates related to age, educational qualification, category, domicile, etc., are verified.

1. Final Merit List: The final merit list is prepared based on the combined marks of mains examination and interview. Candidates are allocated to various services based on their rank, preference, and availability of vacancies.

UPPSC releases the admit card for the preliminary examination approximately 15-20 days before the exam date on its official website. Candidates must login to their account using registration number and password/date of birth to download the admit card. The admit card contains crucial details including candidate's name, roll number, examination center address, reporting time, and important instructions. No admit card is sent by post; candidates must download and carry it to the examination center along with a valid photo ID proof.

UPPSC declares the preliminary examination result typically 4-6 weeks after the exam on its official website uppsc.up.nic.in. The result includes the list of roll numbers of qualified candidates shortlisted for the main examination. Detailed marks and cut-off information are usually published later. The mains result is declared approximately 2-3 months after the mains examination, followed by interview results within 1-2 months.
