Selection Process

  1. Preliminary Examination (Screening Test): Objective type written examination consisting of 200 questions covering General Studies, Aptitude & Mental Ability, and relevant technical subjects. Duration of 3 hours. Candidates qualifying prelims based on cutoff marks proceed to mains examination. This stage is only for screening purposes.
  1. Main Written Examination: Comprehensive objective type examination with two papers - Paper-I covering General Studies, General Tamil/General English, and Paper-II covering subject-specific technical knowledge based on post applied. Each paper carries 300 marks. This is the final merit-determining stage.
  1. Document Verification: Candidates shortlisted based on main examination merit list are called for certificate verification. Original certificates including educational qualifications, date of birth proof, community certificate, transfer certificate, and conduct certificate are verified. Candidates failing to produce genuine documents are disqualified.
  1. Medical Examination: Shortlisted candidates undergo medical fitness examination as per Tamil Nadu government service rules. Must be physically and mentally fit for government service. Specific medical standards apply for certain technical posts.
