Educational Qualification

• Minimum Qualification: ITI (Industrial Training Institute) certification in relevant trades
• Eligible Trades: Electrician, Fitter, Welder, Machinist, Electronics Mechanic, Wireman, Refrigeration & AC Technician, Diesel Mechanic, Motor Vehicle Mechanic, and other notified trades
• Recognition: ITI certificate must be from NCVT (National Council for Vocational Training) or SCVT (State Council for Vocational Training)
• Additional: Apprenticeship training is considered an advantage but not mandatory

1. Computer Based Test (CBT): Single-stage objective type computer-based examination covering Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Science, and General Awareness. Candidates are shortlisted based on merit and category-wise cutoff marks.

1. Document Verification (DV): Shortlisted candidates from CBT are called for document verification where original certificates for educational qualification, caste, PwBD, age proof, and other supporting documents are verified by railway authorities.

1. Medical Examination: Candidates who successfully complete document verification undergo comprehensive medical examination as per Railway Board standards (A1, A2, A3, B1, B2, C1, C2, C3 categories) to assess physical and visual fitness for railway service.

1. Final Merit List: Final selection is based on CBT marks, subject to successful completion of document verification and medical fitness. Category-wise merit list is prepared and appointments are offered based on vacancy availability and preferences.

Technician Grade-3 officers have excellent career progression opportunities within Indian Railways. After completing prescribed service and departmental examinations, they can be promoted to Technician Grade-2 (Level 3), followed by Technician Grade-1 (Level 5), and eventually to supervisory positions like Junior Engineer (Level 6). With experience and additional qualifications, there are opportunities to reach Section Engineer and higher technical positions through departmental promotion quota and seniority-cum-merit basis.

Admit cards for RRB Technician Grade-3 CBT are released approximately 10-15 days before the examination date on the official RRB websites. Candidates must login using their registration number and date of birth to download the e-admit card which contains exam date, shift timing, venue address, and important instructions. No postal admit cards are sent; candidates must carry a printout of the admit card along with valid photo ID proof (Aadhaar, Voter ID, Driving License, or Passport) to the examination centre.

RRB declares the CBT result typically 3-4 weeks after the completion of all examination shifts. Results are published on the official RRB websites zone-wise with candidates' roll numbers and scores. Qualified candidates' details and cutoff marks for each category are also released. Candidates can check their scorecard by logging in with registration credentials, which shows section-wise marks, total score, normalized score (if applicable), and qualifying status with category-wise cutoff marks.
