The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) conducts the Technician Grade-3 examination under CEN 02/2025 for recruitment to technical positions across Indian Railways. Educational Qualification

• Minimum Qualification: ITI (Industrial Training Institute) certificate in relevant trade

How to Apply

1. Visit Official Website: Go to the official RRB website (www.rrbapply.gov.in) or respective RRB zonal website
2. New Registration: Click on 'New Registration' and enter basic details like name, date of birth, mobile number, and email ID
3. Verify Credentials: Verify mobile number and email through OTP sent to registered contacts
4. Login with Credentials: Use registration number and password to login to the application portal
5. Fill Application Form: Complete all sections including personal details, educational qualification, community certificate details, and upload photograph and signature in prescribed format (Photo: 3.5cm x 3.5cm, Signature: 3cm x 1.5cm, both in JPG/JPEG format, size 10KB-100KB)
6. Select RRB and Post: Choose preferred RRB zone and post/trade carefully as changes are not permitted later
7. Pay Application Fee: Make online payment through Net Banking/Credit Card/Debit Card/UPI or visit SBI/Post Office for offline challan payment
8. Submit Application: Review all details carefully and submit the application form
9. Download Confirmation: Take printout of the application form for future reference

Selection Stages

1. Computer Based Test (CBT) - Stage 1: Objective type multiple choice examination covering Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Science, and General Awareness on Current Affairs. This is a screening test with normalized marking across different sessions. Candidates qualifying based on merit and category-wise cutoff proceed to Stage 2.

1. Computer Based Test (CBT) - Stage 2: More comprehensive objective examination covering technical knowledge related to the ITI trade, General Awareness, and relevant technical subjects. Number of candidates shortlisted is approximately 20 times the vacancy count per RRB and category.

1. Document Verification (DV): Candidates shortlisted from CBT Stage-2 are called for verification of original documents including educational certificates, community certificate, age proof, ITI marksheets and certificate, photo identity proof, and caste/PwBD certificates as applicable. Any discrepancy leads to rejection.

1. Medical Examination: Candidates who successfully complete DV undergo medical fitness examination by Railway Medical Board as per Railway establishment rules. Visual acuity, color vision, and physical fitness standards must be met as per the requirements of the post.

1. Final Merit List: Based on performance in CBT Stage-2 (normalized marks), candidates are arranged in merit order category-wise and RRB-wise. Final selection is made strictly on merit subject to qualifying all stages and availability of vacancies.

The admit card contains important details including candidate's name, photograph, exam date, time, venue address, reporting time, and important instructions. Candidates must carry the admit card along with one valid original photo identity proof (Aadhaar, Voter ID, Driving License, Passport, or PAN Card) to the examination center for entry.

RRB declares results for each stage separately on the official website of respective RRBs and the centralized portal. CBT Stage-1 result typically releases 30-45 days after completion of all examination sessions, displaying roll numbers of qualified candidates along with their normalized scores and category-wise cutoff marks. CBT Stage-2 result is published after 45-60 days, containing scores obtained by shortlisted candidates called for Document Verification. Final result including panel of selected candidates is declared after completion of DV and medical examination, displaying candidate names, roll numbers, and their merit position. RRB Technician Grade-3 cutoff marks vary significantly based on RRB zone, category, and number of vacancies. Typically for CBT Stage-1, General category cutoff ranges between 55-65% normalized marks (55-65 out of 100), OBC cutoff is 50-60%, SC cutoff is 45-55%, and ST cutoff is 40-50% depending on difficulty level and competition. CBT Stage-2 cutoffs are generally higher, with General category requiring 60-70% marks (78-91 out of 130). Zones like Mumbai, Kolkata, and Delhi typically have higher cutoffs due to more competition, while zones in northeast and remote areas may have comparatively lower cutoffs. Actual cutoffs are determined by vacancy count, number of applicants, exam difficulty, and normalization across sessions.
