Selection Process
- Computer Based Test - Stage 1 (CBT-1): First stage objective type computer-based examination covering Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Science, and General Awareness. - Computer Based Test - Stage 2 (CBT-2): Second stage examination for candidates who qualify CBT-1. - Document Verification (DV): Candidates shortlisted based on CBT-2 performance are called for document verification. Original certificates of educational qualification, age proof, caste certificate, ITI marksheets, community certificate, and other relevant documents are verified. Candidates must bring all original documents along with self-attested photocopies.
- Medical Examination: Candidates who successfully complete document verification undergo comprehensive medical examination by Railway Medical Board. Fitness is assessed based on standards prescribed for railway technical staff including vision standards, physical fitness, and absence of disqualifying medical conditions.
- Final Merit List: Final selection is based on merit in CBT-2 subject to qualifying all previous stages. Merit list is prepared category-wise and zone-wise. Candidates are allocated to railway zones based on their merit rank, preference, and vacancy availability.
