Educational Qualification

• Staff Nurse: B.Sc Nursing / General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM) with registration from Indian Nursing Council/State Nursing Council
• Pharmacist: Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) with registration from State Pharmacy Council
• Health & Malaria Inspector: Diploma in Health Inspector / Sanitary Inspector from recognized institution
• Laboratory Assistant: Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT) or equivalent
• ECG Technician: Diploma in ECG Technology or relevant paramedical diploma

3. Receive Credentials: Note down the Registration Number and Password sent to registered mobile/email
4. Login: Use credentials to login to the application portal

Selection Stages

1. Computer-Based Test (CBT): Single-stage objective type examination covering General Awareness, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Science, and Technical Knowledge related to the specific post. Duration: 90 minutes. Qualifying marks required.

1. Document Verification (DV): Shortlisted candidates based on CBT merit are called for verification of original documents including educational certificates, caste certificate, age proof, medical registration certificates, NOC (if employed), and other relevant documents.

1. Medical Examination: Candidates who successfully clear DV undergo comprehensive medical examination by Railway Medical Board to assess physical and medical fitness as per Railway standards (vision, hearing, physical measurements, general health).

1. Final Merit List: Final selection is based on normalized marks obtained in CBT. Merit list is prepared category-wise and zone-wise. Selected candidates receive appointment letters subject to verification and medical fitness.

1. Training Period: Appointees undergo mandatory training at designated Railway training centers before final posting to respective Railway zones and divisions.

Railway paramedical staff have structured career progression through departmental promotion quota (DPQ) and limited departmental competitive examination (LDCE). Staff Nurses can progress to Senior Staff Nurse, Nursing Superintendent, Chief Nursing Superintendent, and Chief Matron positions. Technical staff like Pharmacists and Lab Assistants can advance to Supervisor, Assistant Supervisor, and Divisional/Zonal level positions with pay scales reaching up to Level 10-11 over 20-25 years of service. Time-bound promotions and performance-based assessments provide clear advancement pathways.

RRB releases admit cards for CBT approximately 10-15 days before the scheduled examination date on the official website. Candidates must download the e-call letter using their registration number and date of birth from the respective RRB zonal website. The admit card contains exam date, timing, venue details, reporting time, and important instructions.
