The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) Paramedical Staff recruitment under CEN 03/2025 is conducted to fill various paramedical positions across Indian Railways zones. This exam recruits candidates for posts like Staff Nurse, Health & Malaria Inspector, Pharmacist, Lab Technician, ECG Technician, Radiographer and other allied healthcare positions in Railway hospitals and health units. • Staff Nurse: B.Sc Nursing / GNM from recognized institution + valid registration with Nursing Council
• Pharmacist: Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharma) / B.Pharma + registration with State Pharmacy Council
• Lab Technician: Diploma in Medical Lab Technology (DMLT) / B.Sc MLT from recognized institution
• ECG Technician: Diploma in ECG Technology / relevant certificate course
• Radiographer: Diploma in Radiography / B.Sc Radiography + valid registration
• Health & Malaria Inspector: B.Sc in relevant discipline or Diploma in Health Inspector course

Selection Process

The selection comprises the following stages:

1. Computer Based Test (CBT): Single-stage objective type computer-based examination covering General Awareness, Arithmetic, General Intelligence & Reasoning, and subject-specific technical knowledge. Duration is 90 minutes with 100 questions carrying 100 marks.

1. Shortlisting for Document Verification: Candidates are shortlisted based on CBT merit, normalized marks (if exam held in multiple shifts), and category-wise cutoff. Number shortlisted is typically 2-3 times the number of vacancies.

1. Document Verification (DV): Original certificates and documents are verified including educational qualifications, caste certificate, age proof, registration certificates (for Nurse/Pharmacist), medical fitness certificate, and character certificate.

1. Medical Examination: Candidates who clear DV undergo comprehensive medical examination as per Railway Board standards to assess physical and mental fitness for railway service.

1. Final Merit List: Based on CBT marks, subject to qualifying DV and medical fitness. Vacancies are filled strictly in order of merit within each category and post.

1. Appointment: Selected candidates receive appointment letters and are required to join within stipulated time at designated railway zones/divisions.

Note: There is no interview for paramedical staff positions.

Railway paramedical staff have excellent career progression opportunities through departmental promotion channels. Staff Nurses can advance to Senior Staff Nurse, Matron, and eventually to administrative positions in Railway hospitals. Pharmacists and Lab Technicians progress to Senior grades and Supervisory positions. Promotion is typically based on seniority-cum-merit, departmental examinations, and availability of vacancies, with average progression to next grade occurring within 8-12 years of service.

Admit cards for RRB Paramedical CBT are typically released 4-7 days before the scheduled examination date on the official RRB website. Candidates must download their admit card by logging in with their registration number and date of birth from the zonal RRB website through which they applied. No physical admit card is sent by post. The admit card contains exam date, shift timing, exam centre address, reporting time, and important instructions. Carry a printed copy along with valid photo ID proof (Aadhaar, PAN, Passport, Driving License, Voter ID) to the examination centre.

RRB Paramedical CBT results are declared zone-wise approximately 4-6 weeks after completion of all examination shifts. Results are published on respective zonal RRB websites in PDF format containing roll numbers of qualified candidates. Individual scorecard showing normalized marks, section-wise performance, and qualifying status can be downloaded by logging into the candidate portal. Shortlisted candidates for Document Verification are notified separately through official website and registered email/SMS with details of DV schedule and required documents.

RRB Paramedical cutoff marks vary significantly by post category, railway zone, and candidate category. Typically, UR category cutoff ranges between 55-70 marks out of 100, OBC cutoff is 50-65 marks, SC cutoff is 45-60 marks, and ST cutoff is 40-55 marks for popular posts like Staff Nurse and Pharmacist. Technical posts may have different cutoffs based on difficulty level and candidate pool. Cutoff is determined by number of vacancies, number of candidates appeared, difficulty level of questions, and normalization (if multi-shift exam). Final cutoffs are published with the result declaration.
