Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) conducts the Paramedical Staff examination under CEN 03/2025 to recruit qualified candidates for various paramedical positions across Indian Railways. This recruitment selects candidates for posts like Staff Nurse, Health & Malaria Inspector, Pharmacist, Lab Technician, Radiographer, and other paramedical roles in Railway hospitals and health units across India. The Document Verification (DV) call letter for CEN 03/2025 has been released for candidates who have successfully cleared the Computer Based Test (CBT). • Staff Nurse (Grade-II): B.Sc. Nursing or GNM with registration in State/Indian Nursing Council
• Health & Malaria Inspector: B.Sc. with Biology/Zoology or Diploma in Health Inspector/Sanitary Inspector
• Pharmacist: Diploma in Pharmacy with registration in State/Central Pharmacy Council
• Lab Technician: Diploma in Medical Lab Technology or B.Sc. in Medical Lab Technology
• Radiographer: Diploma in Radiography/X-Ray Technology or B.Sc. in Radiography

Selection Process

1. Computer Based Test (CBT): Single stage online objective type examination covering General Awareness, Arithmetic, General Intelligence & Reasoning, and subject-specific technical knowledge. Questions are of multiple-choice type with negative marking for wrong answers. Duration is 90 minutes with normalization of marks across different sessions.

1. Document Verification (DV): Candidates shortlisted based on CBT merit are called for document verification. Original certificates of age proof, educational qualification, caste certificate, PwBD certificate (if applicable), and other relevant documents are verified. Candidates must also produce relevant experience certificates if required for the post.

1. Medical Examination: Candidates who successfully complete DV undergo comprehensive medical examination as per Railway Medical Standards. Vision, hearing, and physical fitness are assessed. Medical fitness certificate from Railway Medical Board is mandatory for appointment.

1. Final Merit List: Final selection is based on CBT marks only, subject to successful completion of DV and medical fitness. Merit list is prepared category-wise and post-wise based on normalized CBT scores. Selected candidates are allocated Railway zones based on merit rank and preference.

1. Appointment: Appointment letters are issued to finally selected candidates after completion of all formalities including police verification. Candidates must join within the stipulated time period failing which their candidature may be cancelled.

RRB Paramedical staff have structured career progression within Indian Railways. Staff Nurses can advance to Senior Staff Nurse, Nursing Superintendent, and Chief Nursing Superintendent positions. Similarly, other paramedical staff progress through Senior Technician, Chief Technician, and Supervisory roles based on experience, performance, and departmental examinations. Promotions are based on seniority-cum-fitness, and employees can also appear for internal Railway recruitment exams to move into Group C or Group B positions with higher pay scales and responsibilities.

The CBT admit card was released approximately 4 days before the exam date on the respective RRB official websites. Candidates downloaded their admit cards by logging in with registration number and date of birth. The Document Verification (DV) call letter for CEN 03/2025 has now been released in January 2026 on the official RRB websites. Candidates must login to download their DV call letter which contains the date, time, and venue for document verification. The DV call letter also lists the documents to be brought in original along with self-attested photocopies.

RRB releases results in multiple stages - first the CBT result declaring qualified candidates with normalized scores, followed by final result after document verification and medical examination. Results are published on the official RRB websites zone-wise. Candidates can check their results by entering registration number and date of birth. Score cards showing section-wise marks, total marks, normalized score, and qualifying status are downloadable from the website. The final merit list indicates selected candidates along with their allotted Railway zone based on preference and rank.

RRB Paramedical cutoff marks vary by post, category, and Railway zone. Typically for Staff Nurse posts, General category cutoff ranges from 55-65 marks out of 125, OBC cutoff is 50-60 marks, SC cutoff is 45-55 marks, and ST cutoff is 40-50 marks. Technical posts like Pharmacist and Lab Technician generally have cutoffs 2-5 marks lower than Staff Nurse. Cutoffs fluctuate based on vacancy numbers, difficulty level of the question paper, and number of candidates appearing. Zonal RRBs like Northern Railway, South Central Railway typically have higher cutoffs due to more applicants per vacancy.
