Selection Process

The selection for RRB NTPC UG posts consists of the following stages:

1. Computer Based Test 1 (CBT 1): First stage screening test conducted online with multiple choice questions covering Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, and General Awareness. Candidates scoring above the cut-off marks (normalized scores) are shortlisted for CBT 2.

1. Computer Based Test 2 (CBT 2): Second stage examination for shortlisted candidates with higher difficulty level covering similar subjects but with more depth. Number of candidates shortlisted is typically 20 times the number of vacancies (may vary).

1. Typing Skill Test (TST) / Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT): Conducted for specific posts like Junior Clerk cum Typist, Senior Clerk cum Typist, Accounts Clerk cum Typist (TST at 30 wpm in English or 25 wpm in Hindi). CBAT is conducted for Station Master and similar posts to test aptitude for safety-related responsibilities.

1. Document Verification (DV): Shortlisted candidates are called for verification of original documents including educational certificates, community certificate, PwBD certificate, date of birth proof, and other relevant documents. Candidates must bring all original documents along with one set of self-attested photocopies.

1. Medical Examination: Candidates who successfully complete document verification undergo medical fitness examination as per Railway establishment standards (A1, A2, A3, B1, B2 categories). This includes vision tests, physical fitness assessment, and general medical examination.

1. Final Merit List: Based on normalized scores in CBT 2, performance in skill test (where applicable), and subject to medical fitness and document verification, final merit list is prepared. Candidates are allocated to railway zones based on merit, category, and preference given during application.
