Selection Process
Selection Procedure
The selection process for RBI Assistant consists of three stages:
- Preliminary Examination (Online): This is the first screening test consisting of objective multiple-choice questions covering English Language, Numerical Ability, and Reasoning Ability. Candidates securing minimum qualifying marks and ranking sufficiently high are shortlisted for Mains examination. Prelims score is not counted in final merit.
- Main Examination (Online): Shortlisted candidates from Prelims appear for Mains exam covering Reasoning, English Language, Numerical Ability, General Awareness, and Computer Knowledge. This is more detailed and challenging than Prelims. Marks obtained in Mains are considered for final merit list preparation.
- Language Proficiency Test (LPT): Candidates shortlisted based on Mains performance appear for LPT in the official/local language of the State/UT for which they have applied. This is a qualifying test to assess reading, writing, and basic communication skills in the regional language. LPT is of qualifying nature only.
- Document Verification: Candidates who qualify all stages are called for document verification where original certificates related to age, educational qualification, caste/category, disability (if applicable), and other relevant documents are verified.
- Medical Examination: After successful document verification, candidates undergo medical fitness examination as per RBI standards to ensure they are medically fit for the duties of Assistant.
- Final Merit List: Final selection is based on marks obtained in Main Examination only, subject to qualifying in LPT and fulfilling all eligibility criteria during document verification and medical examination.
