Educational Qualification

For Teacher Educator Posts:

• Post Graduate degree with minimum 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/SEBC candidates) in relevant subject from a recognized university
• B.Ed. or equivalent teaching qualification mandatory
• NET/SLET qualification preferred for certain positions

For Instructor Posts:

Selection Stages

1. Preliminary Examination (Screening Test): An objective type computer-based test consisting of multiple choice questions covering General Knowledge, Current Affairs, Mathematics, Reasoning, English, and Odia Language. This is a qualifying examination to shortlist candidates for the Main Examination. Marks obtained in Prelims are not counted for final merit.

1. Main Examination (Merit-Based): A comprehensive computer-based test with two papers - Paper-I (General Studies covering History, Geography, Polity, Economics, Science, Environment) and Paper-II (Subject-Specific Paper based on post applied). Marks obtained in Main Examination determine the final merit list for selection.

1. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates based on Main Examination merit are called for document verification where all original certificates related to age, educational qualification, category, domicile, experience, and other claims are physically verified by the Commission.

1. Medical Examination: Candidates who successfully clear document verification undergo medical examination by authorized Medical Board to certify physical and mental fitness for the applied post as per government norms.

1. Final Merit List: Based on marks obtained in Main Examination and successful completion of document verification and medical examination, the final merit list is prepared category-wise and post-wise for appointment.

Note: For certain technical posts, skill test or practical examination may be conducted as an additional stage.

Selected candidates start their career at designated pay levels and can progress through regular annual increments and promotional opportunities. Teacher Educators can advance to Senior Teacher Educator, Principal/Vice-Principal of training institutes, and eventually to administrative positions like Joint Director or Director of Education/Training departments. Instructors can be promoted to Senior Instructor, Workshop Superintendent, Training Officer, and higher administrative roles in technical education departments. Promotions are based on satisfactory service, performance appraisal, departmental examinations, and availability of vacancies, with typical promotion cycles occurring every 5-8 years.

OSSC releases admit cards for CPGLRE examinations approximately 10-15 days before the scheduled examination date through the official website www.ossc.gov.in. Candidates must login to their application portal using Registration ID and Password/Date of Birth to download the admit card. The admit card contains important details including candidate's name, roll number, photograph, examination center address, reporting time, and important instructions. Candidates must bring a printed copy of the admit card along with a valid photo ID proof (Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, Driving License, or Passport) to the examination center for verification.

OSSC declares CPGLRE results in multiple stages - Preliminary Examination result (qualifying), Main Examination result (merit-based), and Final Result after document verification. Results are published on the official website www.ossc.gov.in and candidates can check their results by entering Registration Number/Roll Number and Date of Birth. The provisional result for CPGLRE 2025 for Teacher Educator and Instructor posts has been released in January 2026, listing shortlisted candidates for document verification. Final appointment orders are issued by respective appointing authorities after completion of all verification formalities and medical examination.

OSSC CPGLRE cutoff marks vary based on post applied, category, and difficulty level of examination. For the Main Examination, typical cutoff ranges are: General category 55-65% (110-130 marks out of 200 for subject paper), OBC/SEBC 50-60% (100-120 marks), SC/ST 45-55% (90-110 marks). For Teacher Educator posts, cutoffs are generally higher due to more competition, typically 5-10 marks above Instructor posts. Category-wise final merit lists are prepared separately, and cutoffs are determined by the marks of the last candidate selected in each category. Candidates are advised to score significantly above minimum qualifying marks to secure selection.
