Selection Process

1. Written Examination (JNVST): Candidates appear for a single-phase written test covering Mental Ability, Arithmetic, and Language sections. Duration is 2 hours with 100 multiple-choice questions carrying 100 marks. This is the primary screening stage.

1. Medical Examination: Selected candidates undergo a basic medical fitness examination as per NVS norms to ensure they can participate in residential school activities.

Note: Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas provide completely free quality education including boarding, lodging, textbooks, uniforms, and meals. There are no charges for SC/ST/rural/girl students. Urban area students from General category may have to pay nominal charges for boarding (approximately ₹600 per month) from Class 9 onwards only. The entire education from Class 6 to Class 12 is essentially free, making it one of India's most prestigious residential school systems for talented rural children.
