Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

• Minimum Qualification: Bachelor's degree in any discipline (B.Sc./B.Com./B.A./BCA/B.Tech. etc.) from a recognized university
• Minimum Percentage: At least 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA on a 10-point scale (55% or 6.0 CGPA for SC/ST candidates)
• Mathematics Requirement: Mathematics/Statistics as a subject at 10+2 level OR at graduation level
• Final Year Students: Candidates appearing in final year/semester examinations are eligible to apply provisionally
• Candidates must have passed the qualifying examination on or before the date of admission (usually July/August)

Age Limit

Age as on July 1, 2026. There is generally no upper age limit for NIMCET.

Nationality

• Indian Nationals only
• OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) and PIO (Person of Indian Origin) cardholders may also be eligible as per NIT admission policies

How to Apply

1. Visit Official Website: Go to nimcet.admissions.nic.in or the website of the conducting NIT for 2026
2. Register: Click on "New Registration" and provide basic details (name, email, mobile number) to generate Registration ID
3. Login: Use Registration ID and password to login to the application portal
4. Fill Application Form: Complete all sections including personal details, academic qualifications, category, address, and upload required documents
5. Upload Documents: Upload scanned copies of recent photograph (50 KB, JPG format), signature (30 KB, JPG format), and category certificate if applicable
6. Pay Application Fee: Make online payment through Credit Card/Debit Card/Net Banking/UPI
7. Submit Application: Review all details carefully and submit the application form
8. Save Confirmation: Download and save the application confirmation page and payment receipt for future reference

Selection Process

1. Computer-Based Test (CBT): Single-stage computer-based examination of 120 questions testing Mathematics, Analytical Ability, Computer Awareness, and General English. This is the primary selection criterion with no interview component.

1. Merit List Preparation: Based on NIMCET scores, a national merit list is prepared separately for each category (General, OBC, SC, ST, EWS, PwD). Raw scores are converted to normalized percentile scores.

1. Online Counselling: CCMT (Centralized Counselling for MCA) conducts online counselling where candidates choose preferences for NITs and other participating institutes. Seat allocation is done based on NIMCET rank and availability.

1. Seat Allocation: Seats are allotted based on NIMCET rank, category, chosen preferences, and seat availability in multiple rounds (usually 3-4 rounds of counselling).

1. Document Verification: Candidates must report to allotted NIT with original documents for verification including mark sheets, certificates, category certificate, migration certificate, etc.

1. Final Admission: After document verification and payment of admission fee, candidates are granted final admission to the MCA programme. Classes typically commence in July/August.

NIMCET Admit Card 2026 will be released approximately 2-3 weeks before the exam date on the official website nimcet.admissions.nic.in (or the conducting NIT's website).
