NIELIT (National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology) is an autonomous scientific society under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India. The NIELIT Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026 is a walk-in selection process for recruiting faculty members across NIELIT centres nationwide. Candidates will be selected for teaching positions in various technology and electronics domains at NIELIT institutes. This is a contractual/temporary appointment initially, with possibilities of regularisation based on performance and organisational requirements. Selected candidates will be responsible for delivering lectures, conducting practicals, curriculum development, and student mentorship in emerging technology fields.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

• Essential: Master's Degree (ME/M.Tech/M.Sc) in Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, Information Technology, Computer Applications or related disciplines from a recognised university
• Desirable:
• Ph.D. in relevant field
• NET/GATE/SLET qualification
• Minimum 55% marks in Post-Graduation (50% for SC/ST/PwD candidates)
• Teaching/Industry experience in IT/Electronics domain

Application Process

This is a Walk-in Interview process. No online application required.

1. Download the prescribed application format from the official NIELIT website (www.nielit.gov.in)
2. Fill the application form completely with accurate personal, educational and experience details
3. Attach recent passport-size photographs as per specifications
4. Prepare self-attested copies of all educational certificates, mark sheets, experience certificates, caste certificate (if applicable), and age proof
5. Carry original documents along with one set of self-attested photocopies
6. Report to the specified NIELIT centre on the scheduled walk-in date and time mentioned in the notification
7. Submit the filled application form at the registration desk before the interview

Selection Process

1. Document Verification: Candidates reporting for walk-in will undergo initial document screening to verify eligibility criteria including educational qualifications, age, category certificates and experience documents.

1. Written Test/Screening Test: A subject-specific written test covering technical knowledge in the relevant specialisation (Computer Science, Electronics, IT etc.) may be conducted to shortlist candidates.

1. Personal Interview: Shortlisted candidates will face an expert panel for assessment of technical knowledge, teaching aptitude, communication skills, subject mastery and overall suitability for faculty position.

1. Demonstration/Presentation: Candidates may be required to deliver a demonstration lecture on a given topic to assess teaching methodology and classroom delivery capabilities.

1. Final Merit List: Based on combined performance in interview and demonstration, a merit list will be prepared and appointments offered to selected candidates subject to document verification and medical fitness.

Selected Assistant Professors can progress through various levels within NIELIT's academic hierarchy. Promotion prospects include progression to Associate Professor and Professor positions based on performance appraisal, research contributions, publications, and years of service. Additionally, faculty members can enhance career prospects through Ph.D. completion, NET qualification, sponsored research projects, and international collaborations in emerging technology domains.

Since this is a walk-in interview process, no separate admit card is issued. Candidates must bring the filled application form along with all original and self-attested copies of required documents on the scheduled walk-in date. The official notification will specify the exact date, time and venue for the walk-in interview at respective NIELIT centres where candidates should report directly.

Results of the walk-in interview will typically be declared within 10-15 days of the interview completion. Selected candidates will be intimated via email and/or phone call registered during the interview process. The final selection list may also be published on the official NIELIT website and notice boards of the respective centres. Offer letters will be issued to selected candidates subject to satisfactory document verification and medical fitness.
