Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

For HEMM Operator:

• Matriculation (10th) pass from a recognized Board
• Valid Driving License for Heavy Vehicles
• Certificate of Competency for operating specific HEMM equipment (Excavator/Dumper/Dozer) from DGM&S approved institute
• Minimum 2 years relevant experience in operating HEMM in opencast mines (preferred)

For Staff Nurse:

• B.Sc. Nursing / General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) from a recognized institution
• Registration with State Nursing Council / Indian Nursing Council
• Minimum 1-2 years experience in hospital setting (preferred for experienced posts)

Selection Process

For HEMM Operator:

1. Written Examination (100 Marks): Computer-based test covering General Awareness, Technical Knowledge of HEMM operations, Safety regulations in mines, Basic Mathematics, and Reasoning. Duration: 2 hours.

1. Skill Test (Qualifying): Practical test for operating the specific HEMM equipment (Excavator/Dumper/Dozer) under actual or simulated mining conditions. Candidates must demonstrate competency in operating controls, safety procedures, and maneuvering skills.

1. Document Verification: Verification of original certificates including educational qualifications, driving license, competency certificate, experience certificates, caste certificate, and other relevant documents.

1. Medical Examination: Comprehensive medical fitness test as per Coal India Limited norms. Candidates must be physically fit for underground/opencast mining operations with specific vision, hearing, and overall health standards.

For Staff Nurse:

1. Written Examination (100 Marks): Objective type test covering Nursing subjects (Medical-Surgical Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Child Health Nursing, Midwifery), General Awareness, and Basic Computer Knowledge. Duration: 2 hours.

1. Interview (20-30 Marks): Personal interview to assess nursing knowledge, communication skills, aptitude for patient care, and overall personality.

1. Document Verification: Verification of original educational certificates, nursing registration certificate, experience certificates, and other relevant documents.

Admit cards for the NCL HEMM Operator and Staff Nurse examination will be released approximately 10-15 days before the scheduled exam date on the official NCL recruitment portal. Candidates must download their admit card using their Registration Number and Date of Birth/Password. The admit card contains important details including exam center address, reporting time, exam instructions, and candidate's photograph. No postal dispatch of admit cards is done; candidates must carry a printed copy along with valid original photo ID proof to the examination center.

Results for the written examination are typically declared within 4-6 weeks after the exam on the official NCL website. Candidates can check their results by entering their Roll Number and Date of Birth. The result displays marks obtained, cut-off marks, and qualifying status. Shortlisted candidates for Skill Test/Interview are notified separately through the website and email/SMS. Final selection list is published after completion of all stages including document verification and medical examination.

Cut-off marks vary by category and post type. For HEMM Operator, typical qualifying cut-offs range from 40-45 marks for General category, 35-40 for OBC, and 30-35 for SC/ST out of 100 marks. For Staff Nurse positions, cut-offs are usually higher at 50-55 for General, 45-50 for OBC, and 40-45 for SC/ST. Actual cut-offs depend on number of vacancies, difficulty level of the exam, and number of candidates appearing.
