Selection Stages

1. Preliminary Examination: Objective type screening test consisting of two papers - Paper I (General Studies) and Paper II (CSAT/Aptitude). This is qualifying in nature and marks are not counted for final merit. Candidates scoring above the cut-off marks proceed to Mains.

1. Main Examination: Descriptive type written examination comprising 4-6 papers covering General Studies, Optional Subjects, Marathi Language, and English Language. This is the most crucial stage where marks are counted for final merit ranking.

1. Interview/Personality Test: Candidates qualifying the Mains examination are called for personal interview conducted by MPSC board. Interview carries typically 100 marks and assesses personality, communication skills, general awareness, and suitability for administrative positions.

1. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates after interview must produce original documents for verification including educational certificates, caste certificate, domicile certificate, age proof, and character certificates.
