ISRO Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network (ISTRAC) is a crucial facility under the Indian Space Research Organisation responsible for spacecraft tracking, command and control operations. • Scientific Assistant: B.E./B.Tech in relevant engineering disciplines (Electronics, Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, Instrumentation) with minimum 65% marks or equivalent CGPA

• Technician-B: ITI Trade Certificate in relevant trades with National Trade Certificate

Selection Procedure

Candidates will be selected through the following stages:

1. Written Examination: Computer-based or offline objective-type written test covering technical knowledge, general awareness, reasoning ability, and quantitative aptitude relevant to the post. Duration typically 90-120 minutes.

1. Skill Test (for specific posts): Practical assessment for positions like Draughtsman (drawing test), Junior Personal Assistant (typing and shorthand test), and Technician posts (hands-on technical skills evaluation).

1. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must appear with original documents including educational certificates, caste certificate, experience certificates, and identity proof. Candidates failing to produce documents will be disqualified.

1. Medical Examination: Selected candidates undergo medical fitness examination by authorized medical board as per ISRO medical standards. Candidates must be physically and mentally fit for the respective post.

1. Final Merit List: Based on combined performance in written exam and skill test (where applicable), final merit list is prepared category-wise. Appointment letters issued to selected candidates subject to verification and medical fitness.

Scientific Assistants can progress to Scientist/Engineer 'SC', 'SD', 'SE', 'SF' and eventually to senior administrative positions over 25-30 years. Technical staff and Technicians have parallel growth paths with promotions every 5-7 years based on departmental promotion committees, annual confidential reports and skill upgradation. ISRO also provides opportunities for higher education, specialized training programs, deputation to other ISRO centers, and exposure to cutting-edge space technology projects.

Admit Cards for the written examination will be released approximately 10-15 days before the scheduled exam date on the official ISTRAC/ISRO website. Candidates must login to their registered account using Registration Number and Password/Date of Birth to download the admit card. No physical admit cards will be sent by post. The admit card contains candidate's name, photograph, exam center details, reporting time, and important instructions. Candidates must bring a printed copy of the admit card along with valid original photo ID proof (Aadhaar/PAN/Driving License/Voter ID) to the examination center for verification.

Results of the written examination are typically declared 4-6 weeks after the exam date on the official website. Candidates can check their results by entering Registration Number and Date of Birth in the result portal. Category-wise merit lists are prepared and shortlisted candidates are informed via email/SMS about subsequent selection stages. Final selection results after document verification and medical examination are published separately with roll numbers of selected candidates. Selected candidates receive appointment letters through registered post and email within 2-3 months of final result declaration.

Expected cutoff marks vary based on exam difficulty level, number of vacancies and category. For recent ISTRAC recruitments, typical cutoff ranges have been: UR category 55-65%, OBC 50-60%, SC 45-55%, ST 40-50% of total marks. Scientific/Technical Assistant posts generally have higher cutoffs (60-70% for UR) compared to Technician posts (50-60% for UR). Cutoffs also vary across different engineering disciplines, with Electronics and Computer Science typically having higher competition. Previous year cutoffs serve only as reference and actual cutoffs depend on current exam parameters.
