The Indian Navy Agniveer (Apprentice) recruitment is conducted by the Indian Navy under the Agnipath scheme to induct young, motivated individuals into the naval force for a four-year tenure. Educational Qualification

Selection Procedure

The selection process consists of the following stages:

1. Written Examination: Computer-based objective type test covering English, Science, Mathematics, and General Knowledge. Duration of 60 minutes with questions based on 10th standard syllabus.

1. Physical Fitness Test (PFT): Qualifying physical tests including 1.6 km run (to be completed within 7 minutes), squats (minimum 20), and push-ups (minimum 10). Candidates must meet prescribed standards.

1. Medical Examination: Comprehensive medical examination conducted by authorized military medical officers to assess physical and mental fitness as per Indian Navy standards.

1. Document Verification: Original documents including educational certificates, caste certificate, domicile certificate, character certificate, and identity proof are verified.

1. Merit List Preparation: Final merit list is prepared based on written exam marks, subject to qualifying PFT and medical examination. Category-wise cutoffs are applied.

1. Training: Selected candidates undergo approximately 16 weeks of basic training at INS Chilka (Odisha) followed by specialized trade training at designated naval establishments.

After completing four years as an Agniveer, approximately 25% of each batch will be enrolled into regular cadre of the Indian Navy based on organizational requirements, performance assessment, and merit. Those re-enrolled will serve for a further period of 15 years subject to terms and conditions of service. For those not re-enrolled, the Seva Nidhi package, skill certificates, and experience certificate will facilitate employment opportunities in other sectors including paramilitary forces, state police, and private security organizations.

Admit cards for the written examination will be released approximately 10-15 days before the scheduled exam date on the official Indian Navy recruitment website. Candidates must login to their registered account using registration number and password to download the admit card. No admit card will be sent by post. Candidates must carry a printout of the admit card along with a valid photo ID proof (Aadhaar Card/Voter ID/Driving License/Passport) to the examination centre for verification.

Results of the written examination will be declared on the official website within 3-4 weeks after the exam. Candidates can check their result by entering their registration number and date of birth on the result portal. Shortlisted candidates for Physical Fitness Test will be intimated through registered email and SMS. Final merit list after completion of all selection stages will be published on the official website with category-wise cutoff marks.

The cutoff marks vary based on the difficulty level of the examination, number of vacancies, and number of candidates appearing. Typically, General category candidates need to score around 60-70 marks out of 100 to qualify, while SC/ST candidates may qualify with 45-55 marks and OBC candidates with 55-65 marks. The final cutoff is determined after normalization across different exam sessions and is declared along with the final merit list.
