Selection Stages

1. Preliminary Examination: A screening test consisting of objective-type multiple choice questions covering General Studies, Technical subjects, and Reasoning. This is a qualifying exam and marks are not counted for final merit. Candidates scoring above cut-off qualify for Mains.

1. Main Examination: Comprehensive written examination with descriptive/objective questions focusing on core engineering subjects relevant to the post (Civil/Mechanical/Electrical). The difficulty level is higher and performance in Mains determines final merit ranking.

1. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates based on Mains marks are called for original document verification including educational certificates, category certificates, domicile, and experience certificates if applicable. Any discrepancy leads to disqualification.

Assistant Engineers and Sub Divisional Engineers in Haryana government services have excellent career progression opportunities through departmental promotions and seniority. AE can be promoted to Executive Engineer after 4-6 years, then to Superintending Engineer and Chief Engineer with 15-20 years of service.
