The Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) has released the Interview Schedule for 2026 for the posts of Officer and Senior Superintendent across various government departments in Gujarat. GPSC is the constitutional body responsible for conducting recruitment examinations for civil services and posts under the Government of Gujarat. This recruitment process selects candidates for Group A and Group B level administrative and executive positions in state government departments. Candidates who have successfully cleared the written examination (Prelims and Mains) are now eligible to appear for the personality test/interview round. Selection Procedure

The selection process consists of the following stages:

1. Preliminary Examination (Screening Test): Computer-based objective type test covering General Studies, General Mental Ability, and Gujarat-related topics. This is a qualifying exam to shortlist candidates for Mains examination.

1. Main Examination (Written Test): Descriptive type examination consisting of multiple papers covering subjects like General Studies, Gujarat History & Culture, Indian Polity, Economics, Current Affairs, and English/Gujarati language comprehension and essay writing.

1. Document Verification: Candidates qualifying the Mains examination are called for document verification where original certificates related to age, educational qualification, caste, domicile, and experience are checked and verified.

1. Personality Test/Interview: Shortlisted candidates after document verification appear before the GPSC board for interview carrying 100-150 marks to assess their personality, communication skills, general awareness, analytical ability, and suitability for administrative positions.

1. Medical Examination: Finally selected candidates undergo medical fitness examination as per government norms to ensure they are physically and mentally fit for the post.

1. Final Merit List: The final merit list is prepared based on combined marks of Mains examination and Interview, and candidates are selected category-wise according to available vacancies.

Officers selected through GPSC have excellent career progression opportunities in Gujarat State Government services. After 5-7 years of service as Officer/Senior Superintendent, employees can get promoted to Deputy Collector, Deputy Secretary, or equivalent positions based on performance and departmental promotion quotas. Further promotions lead to senior positions like Joint Secretary, Additional Secretary, and Secretary level posts with pay scales reaching up to ₹2.25 lakh per month, along with retirement benefits including pension and gratuity as per government norms.

The GPSC releases admit cards for Preliminary examination approximately 15-20 days before the exam date on its official website. Candidates must download the admit card by logging into their account using registration number and password. The admit card contains important details like exam center, reporting time, examination guidelines, and candidate's photograph. No postal dispatch of admit cards is done, and candidates must carry a printed copy along with valid photo ID proof to the examination center. For Mains and Interview, separate admit cards are issued following the same procedure.

GPSC declares results in multiple stages - Prelims result is typically announced within 45-60 days of examination, followed by Mains result within 90-120 days after Mains exam. The final result after interview is declared within 60-90 days of completion of all interviews. Results are published on the official GPSC website in PDF format containing roll numbers of qualified candidates. Category-wise merit lists and cutoff marks are also published. Selected candidates receive appointment letters from the respective recruiting departments after document verification and medical examination clearance.
