Selection Procedure

1. Application Scrutiny: All received applications will be scrutinized for eligibility criteria including age, qualification, experience, and completeness of application. Only eligible candidates will be shortlisted.

1. Written Test/Skill Test: Shortlisted candidates for certain posts (Para Medical and Non-Medical) will be called for written examination covering general knowledge, reasoning, concerned subject knowledge, and aptitude. For posts like DEO, typing/computer skill test will be conducted.

1. Interview/Personal Assessment: Candidates who qualify the written test will be called for personal interview. For medical posts, interview carries significant weightage. The interview panel assesses technical knowledge, communication skills, and suitability for the post.

1. Document Verification: Candidates provisionally selected after interview must appear for document verification with all original certificates including educational qualifications, caste certificate, experience certificates, and medical registration certificates.

1. Medical Examination: Finally selected candidates will undergo medical examination as per ECHS/Ministry of Defence standards to ensure fitness for the post.

1. Merit List Preparation: Final merit list will be prepared based on combined performance in written test (if applicable) and interview, subject to document verification and medical fitness.

1. Appointment: Selected candidates will receive appointment letters and will be required to join within the stipulated time period at their allotted ECHS polyclinic/station.

Career progression in ECHS follows Central Government pay matrix with regular promotions based on time-bound assessments and departmental promotion committees. Medical officers can progress to Senior Medical Officer, Chief Medical Officer positions; Para Medical staff advance to Supervisor, Matron, and administrative roles; Non-Medical staff move through Senior Assistant to Administrative Officer levels. Typically, promotions occur every 5-7 years with corresponding pay level increases, and opportunities exist to transfer to other defence medical establishments or Ministry of Defence organizations.

Admit cards for ECHS Recruitment 2026 will be released approximately 10-15 days before the scheduled written examination or interview date. Candidates can download their admit cards from the official ECHS website (www.echs.gov.in) using their registration number or application number. The admit card contains important details including exam centre address, reporting time, candidate's photograph, and instructions to be followed on exam day.

Results for written examination will be declared within 3-4 weeks after the exam on the official ECHS website.
