CRPF Tradesman Selection Process 2026

The CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) Tradesman recruitment 2026 is conducted by the Ministry of Home Affairs to fill various skilled technical positions within the paramilitary force. CRPF Tradesmen are recruited for specialized roles such as electrician, plumber, carpenter, mechanic, welder, and other technical trades essential for maintaining CRPF infrastructure and operations across India. This is a Group C post under the Central Government with opportunities to serve in various CRPF establishments, training centres, and operational units nationwide. Selected candidates will receive paramilitary force benefits, accommodation facilities, and comprehensive medical coverage. The recruitment process involves written examination, trade test, physical efficiency test, and medical examination to assess both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the respective trades.

Educational Qualification

• Minimum Qualification: 10th pass or ITI certificate in relevant trade from recognized board/institution
• Trade-Specific Requirements:
• Electrician: ITI in Electrician trade or 10th + relevant experience
• Plumber: ITI in Plumbing trade or 10th + relevant experience
• Carpenter: ITI in Carpentry or 10th + relevant experience
• Mechanic (Motor Vehicle): ITI in Motor Mechanic or 10th + relevant experience
• Welder: ITI in Welding trade or 10th + relevant experience
• Cook: 10th pass with cooking experience
• Barber: 10th pass with barber trade experience
• Washerman: 10th pass

Selection Stages

1. Written Examination: Computer-based objective type test covering General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Elementary Mathematics, and Trade-related knowledge. Duration of 2 hours with 100 questions of 100 marks.

1. Trade Test: Practical skill assessment in the applied trade conducted by technical experts. Candidates must demonstrate competency in their respective trade (Electrician, Plumber, Carpenter, Mechanic, Welder, etc.). This is qualifying in nature and evaluated on pass/fail basis.

1. Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Basic physical standards including height, chest measurement (for males), and weight. Candidates must meet minimum physical standards prescribed for paramilitary forces. This is qualifying in nature.

1. Document Verification: Verification of original educational certificates, category certificates, identity proof, and other relevant documents. Candidates must produce all original documents along with self-attested photocopies.

1. Medical Examination: Comprehensive medical examination conducted by authorized medical board to ensure candidates meet the required medical standards for CRPF service. Includes vision test, hearing test, and general fitness assessment.

1. Final Merit List: Final selection based on marks obtained in Written Examination only, subject to qualifying in Trade Test, PET, and Medical Examination. Category-wise merit lists prepared separately.

Written Examination Pattern

Paper - I (Objective Type)

Negative Marking: 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.

Qualifying Marks:

• UR/EWS: 35% (35 marks)
• OBC: 33% (33 marks)
• SC/ST: 30% (30 marks)

Exam Mode: Computer Based Test (CBT) - Online mode

Language: Questions will be available in Hindi and English (bilingual format)

CRPF Tradesmen have opportunities for career advancement through departmental examinations and seniority. Promotion path typically progresses from Tradesman to Skilled Grade II, then to Skilled Grade I, Head Tradesman, and Master Tradesman positions based on years of service, performance, and availability of vacancies. With continued good service and acquiring additional technical qualifications, tradesmen can reach supervisory positions with pay levels up to Level 6-7, with corresponding salary increases and enhanced responsibilities in their respective technical domains.

Admit cards for CRPF Tradesman examination will be released approximately 2-3 weeks before the scheduled examination date on the official CRPF recruitment website. Candidates must download their admit cards using their Registration Number and Date of Birth/Password from the online portal. No physical admit cards will be sent by post. Candidates must carry the admit card along with a valid photo ID proof (Aadhar Card, Voter ID, Driving License, or Passport) to the examination centre for entry.

Results for each stage (Written Examination, Trade Test, PET, Medical Examination) will be declared separately on the official CRPF website. Written examination results typically appear within 4-6 weeks of the exam date, containing category-wise cut-off marks and list of qualified candidates. Final merit lists are prepared based on written exam scores after candidates qualify in all subsequent stages, usually published 3-4 months after the entire selection process concludes.

CRPF Tradesman cutoff marks vary by category and trade applied for. Typical qualifying cutoffs range between 35-45 marks out of 100 for UR/EWS, 33-42 marks for OBC, and 30-38 marks for SC/ST categories. Actual cutoffs depend on factors including number of vacancies, difficulty level of examination, and total number of applicants. Trade-specific cutoffs may differ, with popular trades like Electrician and Motor Mechanic generally having higher cutoffs compared to other trades.
